Trumpeter Jason Carder grew up in Arizona and began his musical education studying with Glen Bowling (National Symphony Orchestra), James Benitez (Phoenix Symphony Orchestra), and Stephen Steele (director of bands at Illinois State University). His formal musical education continued at Interlochen Arts Academy and University of Miami under the tutelage of Gilbert Johnson and Whit Sidener. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami and now holds the position of visiting assistant professor of jazz trumpet at the University of Miami.

During his formative years, Jason was the recipient of the "Fine Arts Award" at Interlochen, the "Maynard Ferguson Award" in the McDonald's All American Jazz Band and won First Prize in the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition in 1988.

Jason's professional experience includes tours with the bands of Yanni, Maria Schneider, Ray Charles, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Paul Anka, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, the Jaco Pastorius (Word of Mouth) Big Band and the Original Wildcat Jass Band. He has contributed his talent to over Eighty albums, including "Sky Blue" by Maria Schneider; Arturo Sandoval's "Rumba Palace," "Americana," and Grammy Award-winning "Hot House",Young Jeezy's, "The Inspiration" and the upcoming release for the band N.E.R.D.
His soundtrack credits include "There's Something About Mary", "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights," and "Bailando por Un Sueno." He also has appeared as featured soloist with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra under Peter Nero, and the New World School of the Arts Big Band.

In 2008 Jason performed the World Premiere of "Nightspot" a Ballet written by Elvis Costello and Twyla Tharp. He also performed as the soloist on the World Premiere of Jeff Haskell's "Tyspo 1" and "Tyspomedia" performed by the University of Arizona Trumpet Ensemble at the 2008 International Trumpet Guild Convention in Canada. He has also performed as the lead trumpeter with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Pops.
Jason's other teaching experience includes adjunct positions at Mannes School of Music (Prep Division) and Florida International University, and University of Miami.
